Welcome to my world!

Hey! I'm Shawn, a dedicated and passionate expert in nutrition and fitness. With a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nutrition, a Master of Science in Public Health Nutrition, and as a current PhD student in Nutritional Biology, my journey is rooted deeply in the science of health. My research focuses on the relationship between the gut microbiome and major depressive disorder, ensuring I stay at the forefront of nutritional science research and knowledge.

As a Registered Dietitian licensed in the state of Wisconsin and a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, I bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience relating to the body and how it works.

I completed a rigorous 1400-hour clinical dietetic internship at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, preparing me to provide top-tier nutrition care. I'm also preparing to sit for the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist board exam.

My specialization lies in helping clients recover from body dysmorphia and disordered eating. Often times, we focus on our health from an aesthetic point of view, which can lead to a poor relationship with both food and exercise. Which is why I am committed to building or rebuilding healthy relationships with both, promoting lasting wellness. My approach is to treat every client or patient I work with as an individual, creating a safe and judgment-free space for healing and growth.

Evidence-based practice is at the core of my philosophy. As a PhD research scientist and Registered Dietitian, I stay updated on the latest scientific developments. I adapt my methods to reflect current evidence, ensuring integrity and the highest quality of care for my clients.

Building trust and demonstrating empathy are crucial in my practice. I listen actively and provide a platform for clients to share their stories without judgment. Celebrating wins and supporting clients through challenges, I foster a positive and encouraging environment.

What sets me apart is my deep understanding of mental health struggles and my genuine connection with clients, offering support without judgement or condescension. My commitment to evidence-based practice and empathetic care defines my approach, ensuring you receive the best guidance on your health journey.
